TYSON MATTHEW KOTTELENBERG

This blog is about our 14 year old son Tyson. Tyson was born with serious complex congenital heart defects, (Hypoplastic Right Ventricle, Tricuspid Atresia, Coarctation of Aorta, Transposed Great Arteries, with VSD and ASD.) In short, the right side of his heart is completely under-developed (he has half a heart,) his main arteries are mixed up, and his aorta is narrow. He has undergone 3 open-heart surgeries and 5 heart catheterization procedures to try to 'repair' his heart. Tyson also has severe narrowing in his pulmonary veins which are causing higher venous pressures. He's still doing AMAZINGLY well all things considered. We entrust our dear son into the hands of God, knowing that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him!

 FEBRUARY IS FINALLY HERE!

Brian helping Tyson cross off the last month on his monthly count-down chart.
It's been ten months since we've known about Tyson's wish trip to Walt Disney World, Florida to meet Spiderman and Mickey Mouse.  To help Tyson understand how long he had to wait before we leave, we made a monthly count-down chart, cut & pasted one exciting event that happens in each month, and then Tyson crossed off each month as they went past.

This is our NEW chart for the month of February!

Hmmmm... we really don't get out a whole lot, do we?  Tyson does have two doctor appointments this month, but he really frowned at the idea of including them on his count-down chart.  I guess he wanted to save this chart for events he actually looks forward to!

Tyson's Spidey Senses Are Tingling...

We are so thankful that Tyson's health remains stable and he is as healthy right now as we've ever seen him!  We've been just as cautious as usual with keeping him away from others with cold/viruses, and this month will be no exception.  Our family is really, really, REALLY looking forward to this trip!

In addition to the excitement of going to Florida, we've also been offered a great opportunity from Cardiac Kids (once again.)  If you know our family well, you know how much we've already been blessed by all that Cardiac Kids does for us.  Last week, Meghan (from Cardiac Kids) asked me to write a blurb for their pamphlet which they hand out to their sponsors asking them to continue their support.  The purpose of the blurb is for their sponsors to have an idea of what exactly Cardiac Kids does for their families and how important it is that they continue their donations to Cardiac Kids.
So this week I sent in what I had written, thanking Cardiac Kids for all they do for us....and the response I received from Meghan included an invitation to attend a Toronto Maple Leaf game for this Saturday!  Tyler Bosak donated a box to Cardiac Kids, and so our whole family has box seats to Saturday's game!  Talk about more excitement!  We are SO grateful!
