TYSON MATTHEW KOTTELENBERG

This blog is about our 14 year old son Tyson. Tyson was born with serious complex congenital heart defects, (Hypoplastic Right Ventricle, Tricuspid Atresia, Coarctation of Aorta, Transposed Great Arteries, with VSD and ASD.) In short, the right side of his heart is completely under-developed (he has half a heart,) his main arteries are mixed up, and his aorta is narrow. He has undergone 3 open-heart surgeries and 5 heart catheterization procedures to try to 'repair' his heart. Tyson also has severe narrowing in his pulmonary veins which are causing higher venous pressures. He's still doing AMAZINGLY well all things considered. We entrust our dear son into the hands of God, knowing that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him!

Another New Surgery Date...

Hearing the voice of the Sick Kids' surgical co-ordinator always causes my stomache to drop....but this time it wasn't BAD news :)
Tyson's surgery has been bumped UP to Tuesday, December 7, instead of Wednesday. He is scheduled for the first case of the day, so Tuesday at 8 am. So glad to hear that! It meant a few phone calls to rearrange some details of my week's "plans" and it means I have to get moving quicker on a few things around here, but I am happy with this news.
Tyson is still healthy :) That liquid silver must be doing wonders for him because from time to time he has developed very teeny, tiny sniffles, but nothing ever materialized into anything serious, and the flu bug completely passed him by, PRAISE THE LORD!!
