*PHEW* We just squeaked by from another hospital stay with Tyson. As I mentioned in my last post, he's been fighting a cold. We thought it was getting better, but his sats have been dropping. This morning when I went to get him up for church, his fingers were very purple. The first thing I always think when I see this is that he must be cold. But he was dressed very warmly and his hands were nice and toasty warm. His lips were also more dusky than normal. Brian and I decided to take him in to Headwaters ER to get a sats check. Thankfully we were able to be seen immediately :) At triage, his sats were low 70s. NOT good! He needs to be above 80%, especially because he's already had his Fontan surgery. A chest x-ray revealed a small amount of pneumonia on the right middle lobe, and he also has a double ear infection (which he never once complained about LOL! Tough kid!) He was given a ventolin mask and within 10 minutes his sats were back up to 81. Still not the best number in the world, but the ER dr said his chest x-ray didn't give any hint of heart failure (they look for a cloudy film around the lungs.) So he wrote a prescription for some antibiotics to hopefully kill both the ear infections and the pneumonia, and sent us on our way home! Yay, that is the first time he's had a trip to ER and he got to go home!
We will keep a close eye on him this week and if his colour deteriorates again, we'll be giving his cardiologist a call.
