TYSON MATTHEW KOTTELENBERG

This blog is about our 14 year old son Tyson. Tyson was born with serious complex congenital heart defects, (Hypoplastic Right Ventricle, Tricuspid Atresia, Coarctation of Aorta, Transposed Great Arteries, with VSD and ASD.) In short, the right side of his heart is completely under-developed (he has half a heart,) his main arteries are mixed up, and his aorta is narrow. He has undergone 3 open-heart surgeries and 5 heart catheterization procedures to try to 'repair' his heart. Tyson also has severe narrowing in his pulmonary veins which are causing higher venous pressures. He's still doing AMAZINGLY well all things considered. We entrust our dear son into the hands of God, knowing that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TY! And New Surgery Date

" I am with you always." Jesus promised
Matthew 28: 20

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYSON! We spent a nice day with Tyson yesterday, celebrating his second birthday. He got spoiled with gifts, of course, and it was so nice to be able to celebrate with him at home :) Again we are reminded how God is faithful to all His promises, and loving toward all He has made. (Psalm 145)
When we left the hospital on Thursday, they were thinking they may be able to fit Tyson in for surgery this Tuesday, but on Friday we received a call that it was more likely he'd have to wait till the first week of December. This is very disppointing news to us, but we know that God has a plan, and there must have been a reason why surgery was delayed in this way.
Today I received word that the next available date is Wednesday, December 8, 2010. This is much closer to Christmas than we were hoping...but we are going to stay positive and hope and pray for a speedy recovery so we can spend the Christmas holidays at home with the kids :) If not, and Tyson's stay is a long one, we will pray to get into Ronald McDonald House, where we can live with the other 3 kids, and I'm sure the kids would love that just as much!
I've been reminded that this date is still tentative. As we learned last week, things can change at the very last minute. The surgical team is presented with new cases every day, and if one of these cases is a baby that needs surgery within the next 2-3 weeks, Tyson's will get moved back again. The coordinator has put a star beside Tyson's name, reminding everyone that he has been bumped before, so they will try not to bump him again. But who knows, anything can happen.
We are putting our faith and trust in the LORD, knowing that it is all in His hands. The waiting is very difficult, but we take comfort knowing that God is in the waiting too. Thank-you all for your prayers, they mean so much to us. And God loves when His children turn to Him :)

Waiting is no fun! I've gotten bumped for surgery as well. They had pity on me and did it anyway after I started blubbering. :)
Happy Birthday Tyson!!
Praying for patience for you guys. *hugs*
